The next meeting of the CEOS project was to be held at the Caen-Carpiquet airport on March 23 and 24, 2020. However, as part of the international effort to fight the spread of COVID-19, the inauguration day of the first flight of the CEOS project at the Caen-Carpiquet airport on March 24, 2020 has been canceled.
The drone and the solution developed by the project are designed to perform surveillance tasks, such as the inspection of penstocks and power lines. CEOS aims to provide a complete solution with an environmental, qualitative and economic gain as an alternative to the visual inspection methods that are currently used.
The solution includes a professional drone inspecting a flight path autonomously and supervised by a secure 4G link. The system is based on Artificial Intelligence on board to control the video sensors, and then to later analyze images that have been captured using a ground processing PC station. All defects can then be detected in an automatic manner and saved in a specialized database.
